The First Law books series are are the first that come to my mind when I think about dark, mature, grimdark fantasy. It feels like Game of Thrones on steroids.  There are darker books than Abercromie series. For example the Prince of Thorns series is dark as hell, so sadistic and dark that I had to stop reading (for a few weeks only, because later I came back to it because I was curious to find what happens next). Yet, Abercromie’s style is magic. You can feel the story, the tension and the grimdark violence. And once you are in, you are there to stay for an amazing ride.
